Christmas in retail is wonderful, but it can also be busy. If you’re short on time and need a little promotional inspiration, here are five ideas you can put in place quickly, with no big budget or complicated set-up.
1. Build a Bundle
Pair complementary products to create a named, ready-made gift, such as The Weekend Ritual, The Perfect Shave or The Travel Edit. Bundles take the guesswork out of gifting, and a good name makes them feel special. Price the bundle slightly below the cost of buying the items separately, and display it together so customers can see it at a glance.
2. A Little Extra
A small gift with purchase, such as a soap, a sample or an accessory, can make a larger purchase feel extra special. Set a spend threshold just above your average basket, for example “free mini soap with orders over £40”, to encourage customers to add one more item.
3. The Upgrade
Love this? Try the upgrade. Place a premium option alongside a bestseller to encourage customers to trade up. A simple shelf talker such as “Our bestseller” next to “Our finest” is often all it takes.
4. The Edit
Make choosing easy. Create a dedicated display around a price point, such as Gifts Under £25 or Little Luxuries, to help customers find the perfect gift within budget. Even in a small shop, one table or shelf is enough. Gift buyers often start with a budget, so this gives them an easy place to begin.
5. Staff Pick
A simple “Our Favourite” or “Staff Pick” label can give a product an instant point of difference. Add a handwritten note explaining why you love it for an even more personal touch. Customers trust recommendations from people they know.
